October 1 // Make wise choices.

Read Luke 15:11-12 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: Your friend tells you he plans to walk a tightrope across a football stadium during a playoff game. How do you react?

Parent Note: Plans like that should go into the Bad Idea Hall of Fame. Most of us would try to talk him out of it, explaining all of the problems and dangers of such a plan. The father knew his son was making a bad decision and that he hadn't thought of how he was going to deal with life in the real world. But the father knew his son was free to make his own decisions, so he let his son go.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me.

I know that even when I mess up, You are there for me.

Please help me to make wise choices.

In Jesus’s name, amen.
