May 17 // What's in a name?

Read Ruth 1:20 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

Parent Note: In Hebrew, the name Naomi means “pleasantness.” After her husband and both of her sons were dead, Naomi didn’t see much pleasantness in her life, so she asked everyone to call her Mara, which means “bitter.”

Pray this out loud together:

Dear Lord, thank you for knowing my name.
I know that You know me better than I could even know myself.
Help me to see myself and others the way that You see me.
We ask these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
