April 9 // We are free.

Read Exodus 14:30 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: It's the first day of summer vacation, what do you do to celebrate?

Parent Note: Even those of us who enjoy going to school feel a sense of freedom at the start of summer vacation. All that time we spent in school now can be spent playing with friends or doing other fun activities. If summer vacation brings us a feeling of freedom, imagine how the Israelites felt after being freed from 400 years of slavery! What an incredible feeling! How grateful they must have been to God for delivering them from that horrible situation!

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord, thank You for being a God of freedom.
Just like you saved the Israelites from slavery, You saved me from my sin.
Help me to be thankful for the freedom I have in You.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
