May 1 // Keep your word.

Read Joshua 10:6 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: If someone tricked you into something, would you be willing to put yourself in danger to help that person?

Parent Note: Even though the Gibeonites had tricked him in the past, Joshua chose to honor their peace treaty and help defend them against the Amorites. Even if other people don’t stick to their word, we should do our best to keep ours.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord thank You for always keeping Your promises.
I know that You will always do what You say.
Help me to be brave enough to stand up for others, like the Joshua did for the Gibeonites.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
