March 19 // Rules protect us.

Read Exodus 19:5 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: Have you ever wondered why shampoo bottles have to warn users that shampoo is for external use only?

Parent Note: It seems silly, but most warning labels exist on products because someone used it in a way for which the product was not intended. Sometimes these people got hurt and they sued the company that made the product. To make sure that no one else tries to use the product in that manner again, the company adds warning labels to protect their customers and themselves. God gave the Israelites the Ten Commandments and a series of other laws so they would know how God wanted them to behave. These laws were the warning labels for life.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your guidance.
I know that the rules You’ve given us will help us be closer to You.
Help me to be live a life of obedience and grace.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
