Read Exodus 5:2 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: If a police officer tells you to do something and you don’t do it, what will happen?
Parent Note: Police officers are authority figures who work to keep us safe. When they ask us to do something, we should recognize their authority and do as we are told. When Moses and Aaron come before Pharaoh, they tell him that they are there on behalf of God. Pharaoh tells them that he does not know God, does not recognize His authority over him, and rejects their request. Before long, Pharaoh would know who God is, he would recognize his authority over him and all things, and would accept their request to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank You for making me.
You are over all of creation, and You still see and love me.
Help me to obey You with my whole heart.
In Jesus’s name, amen.
