Read Matthew 26:48-49 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: If you could go back in time and meet Judas, what would you say to him?
Parent Note: It's so easy to hate Judas. He committed a horrible sin for evil reasons, but he's just a man who fell to temptation. God used Judas' sin to play out a plan that had been laid out before the universe was created—a plan to save us all from our tendency to fall to temptation and sin. When we encounter someone who has sinned, it is important to treat them with love and forgiveness, because that's what God did for us.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your example of forgiveness.
I know that I am not perfect, but You forgive me.
Help me to show forgiveness to people, even if I don’t think they deserve it.
We ask these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
