Read Exodus 14:15 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: Have you ever taught someone to do something you're really good at doing?
Parent Note: Teaching can be really hard. The person may have never done anything like this, so we can't assume that they know even the most basic elements to the task we're trying to teach. When Moses prayed to God to help the Israelites as the Egyptian army was closing in on them, God responded by saying, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground." God's response makes it sound like parting the sea is the obvious, logical next step in such a situation!
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank You for the power You gave to Moses.
I know that I can always ask You for help.
Please help me to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and know Your will.
In Jesus’s name, amen.
