February 8 // We are all different.

Read Genesis 11:9 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: Are countries meant to be made up of people who all speak the same language?

Parent Note: While it would certainly make things a lot less complicated, it is not necessary. People living in the United States speak every language spoken on the planet, and we are somehow able to communicate and get things done. Language is a barrier, but it was never God’s intention to make it separate us from each other. Being different isn’t bad, it’s just different.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank You for making us different.
You are a creative God and that is evident in the world You have made.
Help me to love others who are different from me.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
