February 19 // Be the first to apologize.

Read Genesis 32:7-8 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: Has anyone ever been angry with you? What did you do?

Parent Note: This is not a fun feeling. It can make us afraid. If we've done something wrong, the best thing to do is to own up to what we've done, apologize, and try to make amends.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank You for not holding Your anger against me.
I know that You are a forgiving God who wants to reconcile.
Please help me to recognize when I have made a mistake, and take responsibility.
In Jesus’s name, amen.
