Read Genesis 22:8 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: How do you think the Lord felt sending His Son to be sacrificed for us?
Parent Note: Though agonizing, Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son for his love for the Lord, but God spared him from the pain of doing something so horrific. The Lord did sacrifice his Son, Jesus, for the love of every single human being ever created. While God was able to spare Isaac, Jesus had to go through every awful moment all on our behalf. We serve a God who is love—not just loving—but actually is love. The more we understand about love, the closer we come to understanding God. He would and has done everything for us because He loves us. Sometimes the things He asks us to do are hard, but when we consider the nature and character of God, we must always come to the conclusion that it is for God's good and loving purposes.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank You for Jesus.
I know that no sacrifice compares to His.
Help me to live a life of thankfulness.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen
