January 4 // God is light.

Read Revelation 22:5 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: How long do you think you could look directly at the sun before it would hurt your eyes?

Parent Note: It wouldn’t take long. Looking directly at the sun is really bad for our eyes, and we shouldn’t do it. In Heaven and New Jerusalem, there will be no shadow—no darkness of any kind—because God’s glory will shine everywhere. It will definitely be bright, but not so bright that we cannot see or that the light will hurt our eyes.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your light.
I know that in You, there is no darkness.
Help me to share Your light with the world.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
