January 25 // We are forgiven.

Read Genesis 4:11-12 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: When we sin, does God want to punish us like He did Cain?

Parent Note: No! Through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we are forgiven. When we sin, we should apologize to God and ask Him to help us to never do it again. When we fall, Jesus is always with us to help get us get back up again and try to do better next time. There is nothing we can do that will ever separate us from God’s love.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank You for forgiving me.
I know that there is nothing I can do to make You stop loving me.
Help me to turn away from sin and follow You.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
