Read Matthew 14:17 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: Has anyone ever told you to eat something you don't like because there are starving children in the world?
Parent Note: The loaves that the boy gave to Jesus were probably small biscuits that could have been eaten in a couple of bites, and the fish were probably small dried fish. While this was likely a common meal at the time, some people may not have been particularly happy to eat it; but they recognized that it was better than nothing. We should be thankful for the food we have to eat and all of the things we have because God provides us with everything.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear Lord, thank You for all that You have done for me.
I know that everything I have is from You.
Please help me to be thankful for everything in my life, big and small.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
