August 14 // Jesus is the Messiah.

Read Matthew 3:7-9 out loud with your family.

Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.

Q: Has someone ever taught you how to play a game?

Parent Note: What if that person didn't really understand the rules of the game? We'd be learning a variation of the game. If we were to play this game with someone who had read and knows the rules, they would point out areas where we were playing incorrectly. While the religious leaders had read the Scriptures that predicted the coming of the Messiah, they misunderstood the way He would be revealed to them. Because they had a different understanding of how the Messiah would come, they rejected Jesus as the Messiah. Because of this difference of understanding, the religious leaders did not like John.

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear Lord, thank You for sending a Savior.
Even before Jesus came to Earth, You told us who he was.
Please help me to understand Your Word and use it in my life.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
