Read Nehemiah 1:2-3 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: When is a time that you were sad for somebody else?
Parent Note: Nehemiah was sad because he knew people were living in the ruined city of Jerusalem. Sharing grief with others is a way to show that we love and care for them. Think about some ways that you have cared for others in need, or a time that you received help that you needed.
FAMILY PRAYER:
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
God, thank You for being a God who cares about my troubles.
Please help me to show care for the people in my life who are hurting.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
