April 16 Recap & Devotional

BIBLE STORY:

THE RESURRECTION

BIBLE PASSAGE:

MATTHEW 28

KEY VERSE

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” - JOHN 3:16

CHRIST CONNECTION:

God’s plan to save us is through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

BOTTOM LINE:

Jesus is alive.

TABLE TALK:

Open a bible to today’s passage. Read it out loud as a family. Then, go through the following questions together:

  • What comes to mind when you think about Easter?
  • What does the word “resurrection” mean?
  • What kinds of things happened to Jesus leading up to His resurrection?
  • If Jesus had the power to save Himself, why didn't He?
  • Why is Jesus's resurrection so important? What does it teach us about Him?
  • Read verses 19-20 again. What does this mean for you?

 AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to pay for my sins

You are a good, merciful Father

Please help me to follow You with my whole heart, and to share the Gospel with the world

In Jesus’ name, amen
