Read Acts 16:22-23 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: Why did so many bad things happen to Paul?
Parent Note: Sometimes, when we are doing things to glorify God, we encounter opposition. But if we really look at all of the bad things that happened to Paul, we can see how God turned them all into good things that showed people His power and love. When the religious leaders tried to stone him to death, God filled Paul with His power and Paul got back up and went back to preaching in the city. He clearly serves a powerful God, and that situation only strengthened Paul's testimony. He was thrown in jail, but God used an earthquake to open the cells and all of the prisoners' bonds were unfastened. The jailer recognized God's power and he and his family became believers. "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28)
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, help us, like Paul, to take the message of Jesus far and wide.
Help us to be so full of love for You that we can't help but share the Good News with others.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
