Read Acts 3:12 out loud with your family.
Ask the following question and discuss the answer together as a family.
Q: Has anyone ever clapped and praised your abilities after you flipped a light switch and the room became illuminated?
Parent Note: Clearly this person doesn’t know how electricity works! We did not discover electricity, figure out how to use it, and then create and install the wiring—we just know how to use the switch. Peter tries to explain a very similar concept to the people who were amazed by how he healed this crippled man. Just like we know a light will turn on when we flip the switch because we know it is connected to electricity, Peter’s words, “rise up and walk,” were connected to the power of Jesus through his faith. Peter flipped the switch, Jesus provided the power.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank You for sharing Your Holy Spirit with me.
I know that with You, all things are possible.
Help me to be to live my life in a way that points others to You.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
