March 13 Recap & Devotional

03.13.16

TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

BIBLE STORY:

THE LAST SUPPER

BIBLE PASSAGE:

MATTHEW 26; LUKE 22:7-23

KEY VERSE:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45

CHRIST CONNECTION:

We take communion to remember Jesus’ sacrifice.

BOTTOM LINE:

Jesus died to save us from our sin.

TABLE TALK:

Open a bible to today’s passage. Read it out loud as a family.

  • What did Jesus tell the disciples to do when He gave them the bread?
  • Why do you think Jesus told them to “remember?”
  • Jesus said one of the disciples would betray Him. Who was it?
  • How can you be forgiven from sin?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for saving me

You are a strong and loving Father

Please help me to be courageous and trust You

In Jesus’ name, amen

THIS MONTH’S VIRTUE: SACRIFICE

As a family, go through the following questions…

Is sacrifice a good thing? Why or why not?

How can we see sacrifice in today’s bible story?

What did Jesus sacrifice for us?
