THE WIDOW’S OFFERING
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Your heart will be where your riches are.”
Like the widow gave all she had for the treasury, Jesus gave all he had to forgive our sins.
God wants to be what is most important to us.
Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it together as a family.
What do you think of when you hear the words “riches and treasures?”
What kinds of things are “riches and treasures” in your life? What makes them important to you?
What did Jesus say about the widow?
What should be the most important thing to us?
How can you tell that somebody loves Jesus?
How can we show other people that we love Jesus?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for giving all you have to save me
You are selfless and generous
Please help me to put you first in my life
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: LOVE
What does “love” mean?
How do you show that you love someone?
How do we see love in today’s story?
