THE BOOK OF JOB
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Like Job, Jesus honored God in times of trouble.
God is in control.
Ask your child to retell the story of Job to your family in their own words.
What was the one rule that God gave Satan in the story? Why do you think He did that?
Was God in control, even when bad things were happening to Job?
Can you think of a time that was hard for you? Maybe you were sad, lonely, or angry. Did you depend on God during that time?
Why is it important to honor God?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for taking care of me
You are always good, no matter what
Please help me to praise you even when things are hard
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: GOODNESS
As a family, go through the following questions…
What is goodness?
Where does goodness come from?
How can we see God’s goodness in this story?
