BOOK OF HOSEA
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Like Hosea forgave his wife, Jesus forgives us when we sin.
God loves us no matter what.
Ask your child to retell this week’s bible story to you.
Who is Hosea? What did God tell him to do?
Can you think of a time that someone was unfair to you over and over again? How did it feel? What did you do?
What was Gomer (Hosea’s wife) like? How did Hosea treat her?
How is Hosea like Jesus?
How does God feel when we sin? What should we do after we sin?
What does “repent” mean? Why is it important to repent?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for making a way to forgive me
You are holy and perfect
Please help me turn away from sin and put my faith in You
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: GOODNESS
As a family, go through the following questions…
What is the opposite of goodness?
Who is someone or something that seems “good” to you? Why?
How can we see God’s goodness in this story?
