1 KINGS 17:1, 18
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Like the people saw God’s power at Mount Carmel, we see His power in Jesus’ resurrection.
God is the one, true God.
Open up your bible to today’s passage. Read it together as a family.
What is an idol?
What are some things that people think are more important than God? (ex: making money, having friends, being smart)
Why is God better than idols?
What is a way that you can show people (neighbors, classmates, teammates, etc.) that God is the one, true, God?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for using your power to save me
You are the one, true God
Please help me trust that you are powerful and that you love me
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: SELF CONTROL
As a family, go through the following questions…
What is the difference between someone with good self control and someone with no self control?
How does self control honor God?
How can we see self control in this story?
