TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

TODAY’S FOCUS:

FATHER’S DAY

BIBLE PASSAGE:

1 JOHN 3

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“See what amazing love the Father has given us! Because of it, we are called children of God. And that’s what we really are!"

1 JOHN 3:1

CHRIST CONNECTION:

Through Jesus, we are God’s children.

BOTTOM LINE:

God is our Heavenly Father.

TABLE TALK:

Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it out loud together.

The bible says that when we are saved, we are God’s children. How is God like a father?

How are you like your dad? How are you different?

The bible says that when we are saved, we will become more like God. How have you become more like God since you heard about Jesus?

We celebrate Father’s Day because we want our dads to know we are thankful for them. Name two reasons why you are thankful for your dad.

What is one way that you can show your dad that you are thankful for him today?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for my dad

You are a perfect Heavenly Father

Please help me to honor your by loving and obeying my dad

In Jesus’ name, amen
