RUTH & NAOMI
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“He comforts us in all our troubles. Now we can comfort others when they are in trouble. We ourselves receive comfort from God.”
- 1 CORINTHIANS 1:4
Like Boaz redeemed Ruth, Jesus redeems us from sin.
We are redeemed through Jesus.
Ask your child to retell this Sunday’s bible story to you.
Have you heard the word “redemption” before? What do you think it means?
Why would someone need to be “redeemed?”
How is Boaz like Jesus in this story?
Read today’s memory verse out loud. How does this verse relate to today’s bible story?
Talk about a difficult time when Jesus comforted you. Then, talk about a time when you were able to comfort someone else who was having a difficult time.
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for redeeming me from sin
Your plans are perfect, and I receive comfort from You
Please help me to trust Your plans for my life
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: GENTLENESS
As a family, go through the following questions…
Name 3 other words that mean the same thing as gentle.
Can you think of a time this week when you should have been more gentle? What happened?
How can we see God’s gentleness in this story?
