MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together inside my mother’s body.”
Like God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus, he chose your mother for you.
God chooses our family.
Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it out loud as a family.
What did the angel tell Mary?
What did Mary think when she heard this?
Have you ever heard someone talk about “God’s will?” What do you think it means?
God chose you to be your mom’s son/daughter. Does that make you feel special?
What is special about your mom? Name three reasons why you are thankful for her.
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for my mom
Your choices for my life are perfect
Please help me to love, respect, and be thankful for the family you gave me
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: GENTLENESS
As a family, go through the following questions…
Can you think of a time that your mom was gentle? Talk about it and thank her for it now!
Why is gentleness important?
How can we see God’s gentleness in this story?
