April 5 Recap & Devotional

04.05.15

TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

BIBLE STORY:

THE RESURRECTION

BIBLE PASSAGE:

MATTHEW 28

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life."

JOHN 3:16

CHRIST CONNECTION:

God’s plan to save us is through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

BOTTOM LINE:

Jesus died to save us from our sin.

TABLE TALK:

Open a bible to today’s passage. Read it out loud as a family.

Why do we celebrate Easter?

What does the word “resurrection” mean?

Why is it important that Jesus was resurrected? What does this teach us about Him?

Who can you tell about Jesus?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for your sacrifice

You are awesome and powerful

Please help me to remember what You’ve done to save me

In Jesus’ name, amen

THIS MONTH’S VIRTUE: SACRIFICE

As a family, go through the following questions…

How can we see sacrifice in today’s bible story?

Why did Jesus sacrifice for us?

How can we celebrate His sacrifice?
