March 15 Recap & Devotional

03.15.15

TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

BIBLE STORY:

SAMSON

BIBLE PASSAGE:

JUDGES 13-16

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

ROMANS 5:8

CHRIST CONNECTION:

Like God used Samson to deliver His people from their enemies, He sent Jesus to deliver us from sin.

BOTTOM LINE:

God is our Deliverer.

TABLE TALK:

Open a bible to today’s passage. Ask your kids to retell to you the story of Samson in their own words. Ask the following questions:

What was special about Samson?

God gave Samson strength. Can you think of a gift that God has given you? (ex: patience, caring for others, etc.)

Why is it important to give God the glory for our gifts?

Read Judges 16:28 out loud. What did God do for Samson?

What should we do when we sin?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for forgiving me

You are a strong and loving Father

Please help me to use my gifts to honor You

In Jesus’ name, amen

THIS MONTH’S VIRTUE: SACRIFICE

As a family, go through the following questions…

Can you think of a time you sacrificed something?

Open a bible to John 15:12-14. How is this a sacrifice?

How can we see sacrifice in today’s bible story?
