THE BIRTH OF ISAAC
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
- PROVERBS 3:5-6
Like Isaac fulfilled God’s promise to Abraham, Jesus fulfilled God’s promise for a savior.
We can trust God to keep His promises.
Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read the story out loud.
What promise did God keep in this story?
Can you think of any other promises God has made?
How do we know that we can trust God?
Read today’s memory verse out loud. Does this mean God will give us whatever we we ask for? Toys, friends, good grades, etc.? Why or why not?
What does it mean to “find your delight in the Lord?”
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for keeping your promises
You are worthy of honor and praise
Please help me to trust in Your Word
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: FAITHFULNESS
As a family, go through the following questions…
Is faithfulness important? Why?
Can you think of an example of a time that someone was faithful to you?
How can we see God’s faithfulness in this story?
