November 15 Recap & Devotional

11.15.15

TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

BIBLE STORY:

THE PRODIGAL SON

BIBLE PASSAGE:

LUKE 15:11-32

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“When anyone lives in Christ, the new creation has come. The old is gone! The new is here!” - 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17

CHRIST CONNECTION:

Like the father searched for his lost son, Jesus searches to save us.

BOTTOM LINE:

We are forgiven.

TABLE TALK:

Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it together as a family.

Why did the son run away?

What happens when you disobey your parents? Why do you think your parents want you to obey?

Do you trust that God knows best for you? Why?

What did the father in the story do when his son came home?

How is God like the father in the story?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for seeking me

You love me even when I mess up

Please help me to make you the King of my life

In Jesus’ name, amen

THIS MONTH’S FOCUS: THANKFULNESS

What is a thankful person like?

What is something that happened today that you are thankful for?

How do you see thankfulness in today’s story?
