JESUS WASHES THE DISCIPLES’ FEET
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” - MARK 12:30
Like Jesus washed the dirt off of the disciples’ feet, he washes away our sins through his death and resurrection.
We should serve other people.
Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it together as a family.
Why didn’t Peter want Jesus to wash his feet at first?
Can you imagine a king or a president washing your feet? How would you feel? Peter was shocked because Jesus, the God of the universe, wanted to wash his dirty feet! Jesus set an example for us that it is important to serve others.
Talk about a time you helped someone else. How did it feel?
Why do you think Jesus wants us to serve one another?
What is one way that you can serve someone you know this week?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for taking away my sins
You are perfect and humble
Please help me to live with the attitude of a servant
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: LOVE
Where does love come from?
Should we love people even if they don’t treat us well?
How do we see love in today’s story?
