11.30.14

TODAY’S OVERVIEW:

BIBLE STORY:

THE CHURCH GROWS

BIBLE PASSAGE:

ACTS 2

MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:

“You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.”

1 CORINTHIANS 12:27

CHRIST CONNECTION:

The church is the body of Christ.

BOTTOM LINE:

By believing in Jesus, we are a part of his family.

TABLE TALK:

Open your bibles to 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. Read it together as a family.

What gifts has God given you?

How can we use what God has given us to honor him?

If we have faith in God, does it mean nothing bad will ever happen? Why or why not?

Read Acts 20:24 out loud. What does it mean? How can you use your life to testify to God’s grace?

AFFIRMATION:

To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).

Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.

How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.

FAMILY PRAYER:

Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:

Dear God, thank you for seeking me to be in your family

You are accepting and generous

Please help me to use the gifts you’ve given me to serve you

In Jesus’ name, amen

THIS MONTH’S FOCUS: THANKFULNESS

What are you most thankful for?

How can you remember to be thankful for everything?

How does thankfulness relate to today’s story?
