JESUS HEALS A LEPER & A BLIND MAN
MATTHEW 8:1-4; MARK 10
MEMORY VERSE OF THE DAY:
“‘Go,’ said Jesus, ‘your faith has healed you.’ Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”
Like Jesus healed people of their illnesses, he also heals us of our sin.
We are healed from sin through Jesus.
Open your bibles to today’s passage. Read it together as a family.
Leprosy is a terrible skin disease. Most people would stay away from people who had it, because they were afraid they would get it too! But, Jesus reached out and touched the man with leprosy. What does this tell us about Jesus?
Read today’s memory verse out loud. What did the blind man do after he was healed? Why is that important?
How are we like the blind man and the leper?
Why do we need to be healed?
To affirm someone is to tell them what you know to be true about them. We can see affirmation used to uplift people in Scripture. (ex: Paul’s letters to the churches; see Philemon 1:4-7).
Take this time to encourage each member of your family through affirmation.
How do you see them becoming more like Jesus? What makes you thankful for them? Share these things with one another now as a family.
Read the following prayer out loud. Have your kids repeat after you:
Dear God, thank you for healing me
You are good and merciful
Please show me how to be thankful for what you’ve done
In Jesus’ name, amen
THIS MONTH’S FOCUS: THANKFULNESS
What is a thankful attitude like?
How can we show other people that we are thankful?
How does thankfulness relate to today’s story?
